One of the phrases bandied about lately is "eye candy," and I certainly saw plenty of that Saturday at the Fresno Autorama. 'Twas pretty sweet. The finest custom cars in the world were shining under the lights at the Fresno Exhibit Hall, part of the downtown Fresno Convention Center complex. I think it's a must-see event for Merced area folks who dig modified vehicles of all descriptions. I try not to miss it. The closest other shows are in Sacramento, San Francisco or Southern California. There were more than 200 custom cars, trucks, hot rods and motorcycles on display in Fresno.

There's a simple reason why a chose a profession centered on words. I hate numbers.

Well, OK, it's not that bad, but there is nothing more terrifying than putting numbers in the newspaper. Especially when you're the one wielding the calculator. And I even received A's and B's in high school.

Still, I have my trusty Texas Instruments TI-30Xa that I used in high school ready for any number-crunching quandaries, though most of the buttons have been renedered useless since I've forgotten what they do.
