State Sen. Jeff Denham, R-Merced introduced a bill (Senate Bill 1686) that would hold the people who hire signature gatherers liable if they break the law by living outside the state or district.
Many of the signature gatherers who collected John Hancocks for the recall against him weren’t from his district, thereby breaking the Elections Code.
