He's been over here several times, even pinning medals and stripes on troops' uniforms. For that, and mainly for his macho roles in "Delta Force" and "Walker, Texas Ranger," Norris has become an icon to many who've served in Iraq.

Found this out last night when I spent five hours waiting for a helicopter to take me to my embed with soldiers up north. As has happened the last five days, sandstorms grounded us, so I'm stuck in Baghdad again. But the wait allowed me time to look at a bulletin board in the small waiting room near the helipad.
