Last Friday, while working the cops and crime beat, we heard a call about a human foot found along North Southern Pacific Avenue, east of Buhach Road.

Sensing one of those only-in-Merced-County kind of stories, I called up the Sheriff's Department to get the scoop.

Well, deputies who went out to the scene believed it was from an animal, not human. I called spokesman Tom MacKenzie following up and he said the coroner confirmed that it was a bear paw.
