Some of Merced’s high school seniors sat down yesterday and today to take another stab at the California High School Exit Examination, or CAHSEE.
Students first take the two-part test in the second half of their sophomore year. If they fail either the math or English-language arts portions of the exam, they must retake parts failed in order to graduate.
Since the exit exam was given the nod by the California legislature in 1999, it has been the source of much controversy.
