Atwater Home Depot still a go

Though Home Depot has been in the news for deciding not to build dozens of new stores, spokeswoman Kathryn Gallagher assured me that the store set for Atwater is still on the books.
It'll be built later this year and will open early 2009, she said. That's later than initially planned.
The store is the other main tenant of the Atwater Ranch shopping center that will be anchored by a SuperTarget, set to open July 31.
I've watched the SuperTarget be built remarkably quickly and noticed that the construction crew was building the bull's-eye sign the other day. SuperTarget's hitting the mark.
Soon, the orange home improvement store will take aim.

I'd wager on that bet, but the spokeswoman has assured me that there are no plans to shutter the Merced store.
Of course, I remember when Save Mart leaders said the Albertson's store here on G Street would remain open.
