Food for thought

As the writer of the Taste of Merced County and Beyond column, which is published twice a month on Wednesdays in the features section, I have been surprised and pleased to see so many food-related events taking place around this area.

There have been so many that I haven't been able to get all of them in. Although this one isn't happening until April, the deadline for nominations is Monday, so I thought I'd bring it up before next week's column.

The Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Between Friends/Entre Amigos will host the Second Annual "Latinas Making a Difference" luncheon on April 4 at the Branding Iron Restaurant. The event is to acknowledge local Latina women who have made a difference in their professional and personal lives, and the communities they live in.

Nomination forms, which are due Monday, should be submitted by the nominee's employer (or anyone else who wants to nominate her). For more information or a nomination form, contact the Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at info@mercedhcc.com or call 209 385-9537.
