More people jump into candidate pool

The county election workers have been updating the list of people pulling paperwork to run in the November election.
Atwater remains a three-person race for two seats.
Livingston, however, will be more competitive. And highly contentious.
For mayor, incumbent Gurpal Samra pulled paperwork, as did Daniel Varela.
Margarita Aguilar, Martin Silva and Martha Nateras are looking to run for the three council seats up for grabs. Incumbents Roy Soria, Frank Vierra and Bill Ingram are gunning to keep their slots.
This is the beginning of Political Silly Season, a time when everyone is jockeying to be everything to everyone. Council meetings will inevitably become more politically charged.
In Livingston, where the council members can barely get along, the meetings may be atomic. The first shots may be fired Tuesday night, when the council looks at the budget.
Local Political Races

The local political races may be heating up in Livingston, but don't count out little Atwater from hot and heavy bickering.....Atwater has always taken the lead in angry campaigning. This year a new group calling it self the Atwater Good Government league will try to level the playing field. You'll be hearing more from this new sheriff in town as it gets organized....

The Political Silly Season
All Hail to the "Political Silly Season", full of fodder for bloggers, journalists, and political junkies. With an ever increasing cast of characters competing in almost Olympic like political events as: "mud slinging", "back-biting", "sign-snatching", and "talking out of both sides of ones mouth", one is sure to develop carpal tunnel trying to capture it all in print.
But for pure political entertainment, one need not wait until the official start of the Silly Season. After all, at almost any Livingston City Council meeting, either a Councilman or Mayor will be sure to proffer a quote or two worth requoting.....Such as telling some local farmers that they "are not members of the community", or they "are seeing conspiracy theories, flying saucers, and men in silver suits"...Or making jokes about Eminent Domain.
With the almost constant "sniping" and "potshoting" between council members, sometimes I wonder if a little "time out" on a "snipe hunt" would do them some good.
Let the Silly Season Games Begin! :)
