Maybe I’m being cynical, but I couldn’t stop laughing after watching a video of of a press conference held yesterday. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with State Schools Superintendent Jack O’Connell, visited Northwood Elementary School in Sacramento yesterday to announce how they plan to help the 97 lowest-performing school districts in California.
After a tour of the school and an introduction to the student body, Gov. Schwarzenegger gave a speech to a group of spectators and press, with the members of the student council standing behind him. He then introduced O’Connell who proceeded with his speech. Then, all of a sudden, a child standing behind the superintendent proceeds to faint and fall to the ground. His fellow student council members back away and stare, as O’Connell, who seems to not have noticed the unconscious student behind him, goes on with his speech. But the governor did notice and went to help the boy. Like the young man was John Connor himself, the Governator helped the boy get up and walked him over to his teacher. Arnold then returned to his post to the right of O’Connell, who by this time has figured out something is going on and had stopped speaking. The Governator quickly ensured everyone the boy would be OK with a nod and O’Connell continued with his speech.
This video, placed on the governor’s Website this morning, is not meant to be funny. But I couldn't help but laugh. It turns out, according to a CBS story, that the boy was OK and apparently fainted for no reason. His mom is the principal at the school and his father was in the audience, so he had familiar faces around him when he came to. And, of course, one of the most familiar faces to action movie goers everywhere was also there too.
