Toilets and the Merced County Fair

I have, for the second year, been given the honor of covering the Merced County Fair for our newspaper. I have been to the fairgrounds at least once every day since Friday. I have tasted many fair delicacies and drank more than my share of diet soda.

That being the case, it is no surprise that I have also frequented a few of the fine restrooms on the grounds. (I have been fortunate enough to not have to use a portable restroom yet, but I’m not ruling it out.)

While some may fear an event visited by thousands everyday means restrooms are less than cleanly, I have found the facilities at the fair to be relatively tidy and well-stocked with all the necessities.

My favorite fair flusher happens to be in the Home Arts building. Filled with soft quilts and sweet preserves, the building is as inviting as your grandmother’s country cottage. The restroom benefits from the air-conditioned building and is a great place to splash a handful or two of cold water onto your face. It is also clean, never runs out of paper supplies and rarely has a line.

Do you have a restroom you like to use while at the fair? If so, let me know. I’ll make sure to visit.
