Watch out for homeless

While shaking out a rug last night in my front yard, I saw Robert, a homeless guy photographer George MacDonald and I met a month or two back.

Robert was picking up extra bottles and cans from the recycling bins, his other part-time job besides working at an office.

Earlier in the day, he told me how a friend of his who lives on the street was nearing heat exhaustion, so much so that drinking beer didn't even sound appealing.

Robert carries water with him when he's making the dumpster rounds and made the man, nearing a heat stroke, drink up to cool down. He may have saved they guy's life.

I don't typically believe in handouts for the homeless, as I know they have plenty of options to eat and sleep. Yet with this awful heat I'm sure I could spare a couple bucks to buy them a jug of water.

helping friends that are homeless and not forgotten..........

many times i go downtown and to all kinds of diffrent places in merced and i see many of my friends that are homeless and people always ask my why do you talk those kind of people and as always i reply well those kind of people there are not only homeless ok they are my friends and i love helping people that are homeless and in need and when im around inthe area where they hang out at night and when i have the time i sometimes take my friends a blanket or a pillow that i dont really need or it might be maybe a pair of shoes or socks or it might be a shirt that i can live with out or dont need or it could be any ole thing like that or it might even be some change or a couple bucks or maybe some food and i sometimes see not only my friends but other people that are homeless and i always try to help out cause after all the lord jesus christ says in his word help those in need and your reward shall be given unto you in heaven and isnt it better to give unto others then to give unto yourself and for it is feels so much better to give to some one in need then to reseive something that you dont really need when you know in your heart that someone else needs it so much and i have heard so many people say help the homeless help the homeless but to get this problem fixed all we have to do is work together and it isnt going to be easy and it isnt going to take just 1 person to get them all off the street but what it will take is for us all working together and doing something about the problem instead of just talking about it and the way i see it and i mean no afense to anyone ok there is 3 kinds of homeless people 1.there is the kind of homeless people that wanna be homeless and doent even try to help them.s selfs at all.2 then there.s the kind of homeless people that became homeless and couldnt help themself.s at all and had no other option.s.3 then theres the kind of homeless people that are homeless but yet they are able and can get a job and work but yet they choose not to cause they dont want to work at all they just want people to feel sorry for them but what ever the case maybe it doesnt change the fact that there is many many homeless people out there today that needs our help and if we all work together as a team we can help them become better then they are and not be homeless any longer so if you have something you dont use are need or can live with out then why not give it to a homeless person or to the homeless people today and you will feel better about helping someone in need then just helping yourself........

Homeless

It must be terrible not having many places to escape this heat. Yeah, there is the cooling center, but when your income depends on you collecting recyclables, sitting in a cooling center is really gonna take a bite out of your finances. I'm glad to see you recognize the need to help the homeless even if you don't believe in hand outs. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Along with the Letter to the Editor titled, "Don't Forget the Homeless". Good job to both of you.
